Our department examines all of musculoskeletal disorders.

We implement dynamic diagnostic methods especially to treat arthrosis in the lower limbs, which may cause dysbasia, and use an acceleration measurement device and three-dimensional analyzer to grasp the condition to decide on an essential treatment method. Advanced coxarthrosis in patients aged less than 40 is in principle corrected by osteotomy to preserve the joint. We have produced particularly favorable results in treatment of acetabular dysplasia of the hip joint, which is the cause of coxarthrosis. We perform acetabluar osteotomy through a tiny cut on the skin, causing less stress to the patient, and this procedure has been recognized with an award from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in 2004.

For terminal coxarthrosis in the elderly, a technique is performed to replace the entire hip joint with an artificial hip joint. Most patients start practicing standing and walking several days after the operation, enabling them to start walking as soon as the pain disappears. We also perform artificial hip replacement surgery through a tiny cut on the skin. To deal with gonarthrosis, high tibial osteotomy is implemented and it is now possible for a definite bone healing as well as the recovery of a painless knee. We are also actively treating sports disorders and injuries and have produced favorable results. Particularly for injuries of the cruciate ligaments in the knee as well as the disorders in the shoulder joint, we are performing reconstructive surgery based on the correct understanding of the patient’s condition under an arthroscope, helping athletes to return early to sports.

Arthroscopic Bankart for recurrent shoulder joint dislocation prevents dislocation from recurring.

In the treatment of malignant soft tissue tumor, we try to salvage as much limb as possible and are striving to improve the survival rate.

There are also experienced and knowledgeable experts on spinal disease, hand and foot surgery, rheumatoid arthritis, and infant orthopedics, who are engaged in careful and thorough treatment. Our department has a bed capacity of 62, and our staff are devoted to achieving early rehabilitation of the patients after surgery.

Outpatient service is available every morning except on Sunday and public holidays. Six surgeons examine patients on weekdays (only patients with appointments are accepted on Saturdays). In each diagnostic process of examination, treatment plan, recuperation, etc., we focus on informed choice and informed consent.

Treatment based on a global point of view is our motto, and we devote ourselves to basic and clinical studies every day, actively attend international conferences, study abroad, and receive overseas training.
