Mission
  The mission of the Department of Infection Control is to prevent and control the healthcare-associated infections by reducing the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections and by promoting antimicrobial stewardship through collaboration with departments across the hospital.

Deparmental Functions
 

1. 

Management and consultation for infection control issues or infection of patient care and employee health services
 

2. 

Education of staff, patients and their family members, and other caregivers in the prevention and control of infections
 

3. 

Continuous quality assessment, quality improvement, and infection risk reduction (e.g. hand hygiene promotion and onitoring)
 

4. 

Identification and investigation of suspected outbreaks
 

5. 

Surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (e.g. catheter related bloodstream infections, ventilator-associated pneumonia and surgical site infections) and epidemiologically significant organisms to track the occurrence and transmission of infections
 

6. 

Evidence-based interventions to reduce healthcare-associated infections
 

7. 

Promotion of antimicrobial stewardship
 

8. 

Control of environmental infection sources
 

9. 

Management of needle stick injuries
 

10. 

Development and provision of educational programs regarding infection control and prevention for all hospital employees
 

11. 

Management of regional infection control network
 

12. 

Implementation of vaccine program for health care personnel
