Blood Purification Center

Chairman Kenji Ito M.D.,Ph.D.

The Blood Purification Center was founded in 1973 with 6 dialysis bed. The number of beds increased to 10 in 1991, and in June 2007, the Center was relocated to its current location on the 4th floor of the hospital's west annex. The Center currently operates 6 days a week with 25 dialysis beds.

We offer extensive blood purification therapies covering areas including hemodialysis initiation, management of maintenance hemodialysis patients with complications, emergency treatment of severe acute kidney injuries, and apheresis therapies for renal, neurologic, gastrointestinal, hepatic and skin diseases. In recent years, we have been promoting peritoneal dialysis management and support the pre- and post-operative management of kidney transplant patients.

From April 2022 to March 2023, the total number of hemodialysis sessions was performed 5,254, and apheresis therapy was performed 248 times. Dialysis is performed under the constant supervision of our physicians (including 5 board-certified members of the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy and one board-certified member of the Japanese Society for Apheresis), nurses and clinical engineers. We started providing home hemodialysis in 2019 and are currently managing four patients.

Our outpatient dialysis service is currently available during the daytime on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and in the morning on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
