Clinical Services
Department of Cardiovascular Surgery
We have energetically performed surgery to treat ischemic heart disease, valvular disease, aortic aneurysms and peripheral vascular disease.
In 2014,we performed approximately 300 surgical procedures (including approximately 200 cases of thoracotomy and open heart surgery). Although the patients are usually discharged two to three weeks after undergoing surgery, the Cardiac Ward is often full. With close cooperation between the Critical Care Center and Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, we are working to develop a 24-hour system in order to provide treatment for diseases that require emergency surgery or advanced medical therapies any time of the day.
The characteristics of our department
In our department, most of CABGs were performed using off-pump procedure since the early period. In the valve surgery fields, we are active in the area of MICS in recent years. Both endovascular and open surgery have been performed by the unique aortic surgery team. Thoracoabdominal surgery is a field of endeavor in the team.
